At least
five people were killed as floods hit the US state of Texas, local media
reported.
According to
the USA Today newspaper, the incident took place in the early hours of Saturday
in Texas.
The bodies of the victims, four children and their grandmother, were
found on the street.
"The
water was up to the roofline of the homes and that’s what prevented the people
from being able to get away.
The water just came up too fast," Palestine
Police Captain James Muniz said, as quoted to the media outlet.
Up to 10
homes were damaged in the flood, according to Muniz.
The floods
were caused by heavy rain and storms.
